Fees
We always provide a full quotation, so that you know exactly what the costs will be before you enter the mediation process.
Costs
GLEAMED participates in the Civil Mediation Council’s Fixed Fee Scheme, for which the fees are based on the amount of the claim as follows:
Amount being claimed Fees per party Length of session
£5,000 or less* £75 + VAT 1 hour – telephone/video mediation only
£5,000 or less* £125 + VAT 2 hours – telephone/video mediation
£5,000 to £15,000* £320 + VAT 3 hours
£15,000 – £50,000 £445 + VAT 4 hours
Each additional hour is charged at £100+ VAT per party
*Please note that if you have a dispute of less than £10,000 you may be offered a free 1-hour telephone mediation service by the Court once you have issued a claim form. You may also be offered mediation by the Court for claims above £10,000. There will be a cost to issue a claim form. If you are a consumer and your dispute concerns the sale of goods and services, the trader is required to provide you with the name and website address of an approved Alternative Dispute Resolution body.
Fees for claims above these amounts and for other civil, workplace & employment, community, and family mediation will be agreed with the participants before any costs are incurred, based on the value and complexity of the matter, extent of preparation required, and the likely duration of the mediation.
The fees are usually charged as an all-inclusive cost covering administration, preparation, any travel and subsistence, and handling the mediation. Fees are usually divided equally between the participants to the mediation. Where venue costs are incurred, these are charged as additional costs and are also shared by the participants.
Fees for online and telephone mediation will reflect those for face-to-face mediations but without the cost of a venue, travel, and avoidable expenses.
International Mediation
Conflict resolution activities, including training, are subject to consideration and negotiation on a case-by-case basis. Fees will be lower when mediation and/or training takes place in the UK or another neutral location. Otherwise, fees and expenses will reflect the circumstances concerned.
Online Dispute Resolution
A quotation will be provided based on the mediator’s fee component of the rates above plus the communications technology costs concerned. The technology to be used will be agreed with the participants to ensure compatibility and smooth operations. Where we can rely on email, VOIP (e.g. Skype) and messaging costs will be low but if, e.g., international telephone calls are required, this will be reflected in the costs.
